Circle And Square: Temporary Art Installation With Orange Fabric Ribbons

Circle and Square features 426 coated mesh fabric ribbons stretched between the building’s roofline and the ground. These ribbons are anchored in circular arrays, shaping two distinct outdoor spaces. The installation’s bright orange color captures the attention of passersby, encouraging them to engage with the artwork and explore what’s inside the ribbons. Collaborating with Vantaly, a Chinese art consultancy, Behin Ha ensured the local sourcing of materials and efficient construction management for the installation. The project represents an exploration of the interplay between art and architecture in public spaces, providing a unique and temporary addition to the cultural landscape of the new development. The combination of linear top anchor positions and a curved ground anchor pattern creates a visually intricate display characterized by varying degrees of overlap, density, and transparency. Visitors can step into the circular spaces, where they can either rest individually on the ground for contemplation or come together in larger groups to interact with each other.
