THESE DAZZLING ROCK FORMATIONS STAND WHERE DINOSAURS ONCE ROAMED

To the Navajo and other indigenous people, these lands served as a seasonal migration path and sacred grounds. ‘Bisti’ is a Navajo word meaning ‘among the adobe formations’. Today, the descendants of the ancient Navajo tribe that once lived among these formations 15,000 years ago now reside roughly 95 miles west from the badlands in the Navajo Nation territory.
