In theory, children have the most impressive imaginations of us all. They’ll make “delicious” pies out of mud, sticks and leaves and host “tea parties” with cups full of rain water they collected from the garden. One would think that when we grow up we understand what is considered appetizing and what’s not. But as the internet has proven to us time and time again, there are plenty of adults who love creating disgusting food combinations…
Below, you’ll find some of the most disturbing and confusing photos that have been shared in the Cursed Foodposting Facebook group. I’ll warn you right now, pandas, that you may not want to scroll through these photos while eating lunch. But if you’ve got a stomach of steel, have fun going on this journey, and keep reading to find a conversation with Jason Mills, one of the group’s administrators!

To learn more about how Cursed Foodposting began in the first place, we reached out to Jason Mills, one of the group’s administrators who was kind enough to have a chat with Bored Panda. Jason shared that the group was first started by a man in Wisconsin in 2019, who then offered Jason an admin position after he began posting weekly videos of himself making “cursed ramen.”
“I joined when there were around 200 people in the group posting the same 6 pictures of gross food combinations, and after I got people to engage a little more with the help of Zac (another admin who has since gone inactive), the page exploded,” Jason explained.
Don’t worry this is just a cow’s skin.

Jason shared that, sadly, the man who started Cursed Foodposting passed away before he got to see the group hit 5,000 members. “I tried to get the group to 20k because the three of us talked about how awesome that would be,” the admin continued. “Obviously, that number has been surpassed by a great amount.”
Today, the group has an impressive 194k members, and it seems to only continue growing. It has gained 22 new members in the past week, and the community has shared 192 new posts in the last month.

We were curious what Jason’s thoughts were on why people love these cursed food images so much, despite how unappetizing they may be. “People love the videos and photos for the same reason I think people watch zit popping videos,” the admin shared. “It’s sorta funny to see how foolish some food combinations get. I always laugh at the bad ones.”

Although there are nearly 200k members in Cursed Foodposting, Jason says that many of them aren’t posting their own pics. “The community is pretty quiet. They just want to see some gross food pictures they can send to someone they know will hate them,” he told Bored Panda with a laugh.

We also asked Jason if he was partial to any of the cursed meals he’s ever seen shared in the group. “I’m not sure if I have a favorite photo, but I know I’ve seen a couple that got me to laugh out loud in a public place,” he shared.

Jason also says he’s not scared of giving some of these cursed foods a taste. “I put NyQuil on ramen, so I’ve definitely tried this stuff,” the admin admitted. He also shared that one of his favorite photos is one he took around 20 years ago when he was sharing an apartment with some friends. He sent me the image, which is a beautiful baked DiGiorno frozen pizza that comes with cookies, which he baked right on top of the pizza. “I never realized how popular it would become and I’m super proud of it,” Jason shared. Bon appétit!

Taking photos of food is nothing new, as we’ve been seeing plenty of delicious meals shared on Instagram for over a decade now. But why are we so fascinated by cursed food pics in particular? It seems like we love seeing mouth-watering, beautiful meals, which makes sense. But we also appreciate disgusting photos of raw meat in ice cream cones and peanut butter and onion sandwiches. Ah, the duality of man!

If you’re looking for some inspiration for what to make for dinner, there’s no question that Cursed Foodposting will provide you with something you’ve never considered trying before. A cocktail with mayonnaise in it, corn inside of a hotdog bun, deep fried ramen, or apple sandwiches that look like teeth? The possibilities are endless! If you’re lucky, you might even find some produce at the store that looks eerily similar to a part of the human anatomy. You can see these photos as unappetizing, or you can see them as inspiration!
