Peristeria elata needs the light level of 25000-35000 lux. Strong air movement at all times is recommended. Winter is the brightest season in the habitat, so the light level should be increased for cultivated plants if at all possible. Reportedly, the species also does well under a 430 watt high pressure sodium fixture when grown 3 feet from the bulb to the top of the leaves. The plant should never be exposed to direct midday sun.
