The pearl layers are variable amounts of LMC, authigenic clay mixed with biofilm (EPS), and aragonite with episodes of erosion and truncation. Here, abiologic precipitation dominated most precipitation but episodes of biofilm development aided precipitation of authigenic Mg clay, likely sepiolite.
