Eerie Mirrored Sculptures Making Human Forms Blend Into Their Surroundings

United Kingdom-based artist Rob Mulholland designed eerie mirrored sculptures out of Perspex, a kind of acrylic glass, to make people think about man’s impact on the surrounding landscape over the centuries. Shaped in the human form, the mirrored sculptures reflect the settings around them, rural or urban, and the people that pass through.

Artist Rob Mulholland designed mirrored sculptures that are camouflaged amongst the Scottish woodlands; the sculptures are shaped from silhouettes of people he knows

“[The sculptures] are a faint trace of the past people and communities that once occupied and lived in this space,” Mulholland says in a press release about “Vestige,” his rural series. “The figures absorb their environment, reflecting in their surface the daily changes of life in the forest. They create a visual notion of non–space. A void as if they are at one moment part of our world and then as they fade into the forest they become an intangible outline.”

Because of their reflective surface, they can hardly be distinguished from their surroundings
