This elaborate site was once called "the most beautiful resort on the continent" by Austro-Hungarian emperor Franz Joseph in 1852. It was abandoned after 1989's Romanian Revolution, but the inspiring architecture still remains today. It's been named one of the Seven Most Endangered Monuments and Heritage Sites in Europe, with many arguing the structure needs to be saved before it's too late.
